Yomassage is a combination of mindfulness, breathing, supported yoga positions — and massage. How great is that!
Each class has a maximum of five participants, so it’s always a small group setting where everybody gets personal attention. In our 60-minute class, you’ll be gently guided into a yoga pose that’s held for 5-10 minutes. During each pose, every participant receives massage from a licensed massage therapist. By the end of class you’ve gotten the equivalent of a full-body massage.
Yomassage was founded on the belief that everyone deserves access to therapeutic touch. The “Yo” in Yomassage is based on the principles of yoga — focus on the breath (pranayama) and the yogic philosophy of looking within. The combination of touch, gentle stretch, and mindfulness provide an avenue for deep relaxation and healing.
All Yomassage therapists need to be a trained massage therapist or physical therapist. Kara, your therapist, has been practicing massage professionally since 2002, so you’re in good hands. In addition, Yomasasge therapists are trained to make sure everyone feels comfortable and welcome throughout the entire class.
When you walk into Kara’s space, you will be greeted with warm smiles and positive energy. Kara will walk you through a series of comfortable and supported Yomassage positions that will be held for 5-10 minutes. While you are relaxing in these positions, Kara will guide you through breath work and mindfulness exercises as she gives massage to each of the five participants during each supported yoga position. By the end of class, you will have received a full body massage. — and be much more relaxed.
You can expect a warm room with mood lighting and soft music. All class supplies will be provided for you, except for your personal bottle of water, so there’s no need to bring anything else.
Yomassage classes are suitable for all levels, no experience required.
